Rangaroon - Weekend Destination near Kolkata
The location
If you've ever visited Darjeeling, you've probably spent some calm hours at the Darjeeling Mall! if you look back at the hills behind the Mall, Rangaroon is the village on your extreme right. To put it another way, it is a settlement located on the outskirts of Darjeeling.
Rangaroon offers the unique benefit of being in a village while still having access to the same sightseeing possibilities as Darjeeling town.
Tiger Hill, Darjeeling's famed dawn viewpoint, is only 45 minutes away from Rangaroon. There is, of course, a trek path to Tiger Hill. Rangaroon is located at an elevation of roughly 6000 feet, and the climate makes it ideal for tea gardens. Rangaroon is home to some of the region's best tea estates, which span 90 hectares.
Despite the fact that Rangaroon is close to all of Darjeeling's attractions, you may want to stay in the township for its wonderful tranquillity and breathtaking views. It takes only 30 minutes to get to Batasia Loop and Ghoom Monastery.
The settlement provides an unrivalled sight of Darjeeling and Kanchenjunga in the distance.
The village is a feast for the eyes as well as the ear. Not only is the location lovely, but it is also immaculately clean. The inhabitants take hygiene seriously and are well-versed in organic gardening.
Things to do in Rangaroon
This is a great place to enjoy nature at its best. Take a stroll through the tea gardens and take a visit to the 18th-century tea mill.
The Old Bungalow in Rangaroon was erected between 1860 and 1870 by a German named Frederic Von Forstmann. The colonial historical edifice, which includes some old paintings and antique furniture, can be seen here.
The Mata Singha temple is a significant landmark in the area. The inhabitants and people from adjacent villages come to this shrine to offer prayers during Baisakhi Purnima. From the homestay, it's a short uphill climb to the temple.
From the homestay, you can walk down 4 kilometres to the riverbed. The location is lovely, and it's excellent for a late-afternoon picnic.
This unique destination is promised to give a terrific experience for a weekend trip and I would highly suggest it to anyone looking for a weekend getaway from Kolkata.
