Purulia, Sonakupi, Offbeat weekend Destination from Kolkata
Purulia, West Bengal's westernmost district, is known for its red soil, Chhau Dance, and Palash red blossoms. Purulia is a fantastic tourist destination for weary city people because of its lush green environment with occasional stretches of rocky and undulating terrain, rustic appeal of the countryside, and purity of inventive tribal life.
One of the most frequented destinations in Purulia is the Ayodhya Hills, an L-shaped tract of rolling hillocks covered in a lush forest. What was once one of the state's most remote locations is now one of Bengal's most popular tourist sites.
You can take a short two-day tour from Sonakupi in Purulia. Sonakupi, a small village surrounded by hills, Saal (teak), Palash, and Piyal (chironji or calumpung nuts). The road from Barabhum station via Duarsini Road goes inside Sonakupi village. Shimul in spring, this village is red in Palash.
Carefully descend the stairs. If you wish, you can soak your feet in a little water. You can get 'Fish-Pedicure' for free by dipping your feet in the water by playing small fish. From here, take a view of the Upper Dam Lower Dam and go straight to the village of mask Charida. Mask shops all over the village. Buy one or two as you like. On the way back to the camp you may visit a small lake or falls.
Enjoy the beats of local village dances at night for a lifetime experience.
Tip for the non-veg foodie☺☺: When you visit Purulia, don't forget to taste the wild rooster broth here.
Where to Stay:
If you want to spend the night in Sonakupi village, you can stay at the Banjar Camp here. The cottages inside the camp are very beautiful, there are camps all over the area, and you will find almost all kinds of facilities here. Not far from the camp are forested hills.
